Symbol & ID

We live in a world with an ancient tradition of naming. Names crosses spiritual, religious and cultural spheres. Name gives a link to a personality, an idea, a concept, a country and universe elements. Name forms analogies and create images. We seek to find an appropriate way to call and organize a world with names. Name may attract and hold in itself ideas and illusions through the time and possibly through the dimensions of space and time. Name is a way to focus an attention and construct images, which may become phantoms, hunting many minds. Or a light flash, which gives a direction and organize around itself thoughts from unconsciousness.

Interpretation consists to find names or create them. I don’t think that names disappear. They may be dissolved in other names or shadowed from a common use. Their meaning may be forgotten but they continue to exist. This is why an idea to cancel and shot down names and words seems to me useless. It has been existed during the thousand years as censorship and auto censorship. But as I said, names do not disappear. ‘’No name, no problem’’ or ‘’cancel button’’ may shadow names from someone’s point of view – not from reality. Reality and physic laws do not work in this way to my mind.

In many spiritual and religious practices, new names signified new identity, new role or new experience. They linked the holders of names with a tradition. A name may be linked to a respectful and remembered personality or a place of birth and life. I see this link as a common exchange. A new holder takes a name with a tradition and a context that comes with. And a name takes a new interpretation and new application through a new holder’s life.  

I think that in a digital age, with an extension of actual internet and double physic-digital spaces, names will be infrastructure materials to create a context. I think of analogies as of providers in digital spaces. In this case, names represent materials, which, driven by analogies, allow to organically create and form ideas and communication.

I also think that the ID concepts may be limited in a number of ways. They may limit context, search variety and partial decentralization of ideas. The ID concept may also saturate digital spaces with data and cause effects on psyche.

This is a reason why I think that a disruption may occur in a way we think, imagine, and organize data and names. Names may also find their presentation in ornaments, motifs and patterns. Names may include many key concepts. Names may link to different meanings and contexts. So I am going to present a name as a symbol in the past, in today and in the possible future.
